Choose an issue affecting the Beijing Olympics

Every 4 years a special game is held called "THE OLYMPICS". This year china will take a special part in holding it. I will discuss in this speech are certain issues that will have an effect in the Beijing Olympics. I will discuss three main issues that will effect the Beijing Olympics are the unpurified water, the heavy air pollution and my last issue is the political issue regarding the freeing of Tibet.

China air pollution is classified as 1 of the world’s worst. Air pollution is dangerous to our health. Air pollution is harmful to our delicate lungs and can cause untimed death. If people go to china for the Olympics the polluted air may affect the health of many tourists.

Another issue is the unpurified water. The unpurified water can be harmful to our health. It is also harmful to china's beautiful environment it can also harm and kill the animals and plants in china. The water pollution will affect many people who go to Beijing for the Olympics as they have to remember that drinking tap water may not be wise as it can make them sick.

My last issue that I will discuss is the current political issue that is happening... FREE TIBET. The issue ‘FREE TIBET’ may impact the decision that people make whether they want to go to the Beijing which is held in China.

These are the main points that I believe that will have a major effect on the Beijing Olympics

Research the tradition of the gold, silver and bronze medals

No medals were awarded in the ancient Olympics. A olympic winner would received an olive wreath to wear on his head. The people who came second and third placing would received nothing :(. When the Olympics were revived in 1896 in Athens Greece, winners would received silver medals instead of gold medals. Eight years later, at the 1904 Games in St. Louis, gold replaced silver for first place. Today's gold medals actually are sterling silver covered with a thin coat of gold.
